INFJ Archetype: The Paladin
INFJs are the tip of the spear for the human race. They hold people accountable for having good character. INFJs execute visions of a better future for humanity by holding people to a high moral standard. The social impact of INFJs cannot be overstated.
Examples of famous INFJs you may know include:
- Dua Lipa
- Jesus Christ
- Kurt Cobain
- Mahatma Gandhi
- Novak Djokovic.
Expression Style
As is the case with all personality types, the INFJ lies at the intersection between a specific expression style and a specific worldview. They are one of the four finisher types, meaning that their communication style is direct, responding, and progression.
Direct: INFJs are obvious about their intentions with other people. Their proactivity shines through as they seek to clarify things with people upfront. They want their words to be useful so as not to waste people's attention.
Responding: INFJs are made to feel appreciated when initiated with. They struggle with feelings of worthlessness, so having someone come up to them indicates they are comfortable around them and like whatever they have to offer.
Progression: INFJs are on a journey of integrity. They have a high rate of failure but always bounce back. Instead of embodying continuous improvement by themselves, INFJs inspire others to grow, finding progress as they strengthen their people.
Worldview
INFJs are part of the Idealist worldview, also known as the NF temperament, meaning that they are abstract, affiliative, and interest.
Abstract: INFJs are idealistic in their pursuits, trusting that the world will be a better place because of their contributions, even without immediate results.
Affiliative: INFJs are all about their Wolfpack. They love leading a group of people toward righteousness. They feel incomplete without a team, securing permission from other people alleviates any worry that their decisions will have a negative impact.
Interest: INFJs are in fact triple interest, so they are chiefly aware of motives. They consider who benefits from a situation and determine someone's value by comparing how much they are willing to lose with how much they are willing to gain. They are prone to having extreme standards, expecting to be worthless unless people will benefit from them.
Cognitive Functions
Ni Hero
Ni Hero has the ability to will its way through any situation. INFJs are often portrayed as heroes in media because the chances are high that they will never give up. INFJs get attached to the objects of their desire, and they have a hard time with loneliness. They will go to the ends of the Earth to prevent this.
Fe Parent
Fe Parent is responsible with ethics because it is skeptical of the necessity of social rules. Without Fe Parent to keep them in check, INFJs would alienate others and stop at nothing to get their way. Gratitude is very important to them, as well. It gives them something to feel good about when they generally feel worthless.
Ti Child
Ti Child is very innocent about its thinking. It is the purest form of logic. INFJs can figure out just about anything, so they feel guilty asking for help. An INFJ who takes Ti Child too far has a God complex where they believe they have to be right, in this case, they see themselves as the ultimate judge of true and false, where nobody else gets a say. INFJs are very divisive. They're not ashamed to criticize people. Their willingness to expose people saves them from embarrassment and keeps corruption out of society. Sometimes, though, they fail to verify that they themselves are not corrupt.
Se Inferior
Se Inferior is afraid of abandonment. They may push others away to test if they will remain loyal, but it is more likely that they will not push people at all out of fear that they will lose faith. INFJs get stressed out when the people around them deviate from their habits. They rely on the strength of other people to stay afloat, so a lack of consistency is a direct threat to their well-being. INFJs mirror the behaviors of other people. They push other people so hard because they are not strong enough to take their journey alone.
Ne Nemesis
In order to feel connected to other people, INFJs want their strong desires to be reflected back on them. Ne Nemesis is worried that this will not happen when people do not spend time with them. INFJs often automatically assume that they are being betrayed.
Fi Critic
Fi Critic causes feelings of worthlessness in INFJs. They do not feel like they are enough by themselves. They may fail to take things they are entitled to because they have decided for themselves that they do not deserve it. INFJs do not like to take help from others and are ungrateful when they eventually do. They do not tend to pity people, as the threshold of guilt someone has to feel before an INFJ has sympathy is extremely high.
Te Trickster
Te Trickster is unaware of what other people think. They are at risk of assuming something they just figured out is either new information to everyone or already accepted as fact. As such, they listen to all data sources equally without considering which ones are credible. When doing research, it is important that INFJs have an Te user around to do the reading with them. INFJs can watch the reactions of other people to gauge the plausibility of the information.
Si Demon
Si Demon is a rejection of an INFJ's needs. They do not care about what they should do, and they often pay a price for it. Watch out for self-harm with INFJs. They need to be protected from self-destruction. They need to make sure they are not wasting their life on a false martyr complex. Do not obligate an INFJ. The judge people as weak for pushing duties onto them. They will do a terrible job and hate you for setting them up for failure. INFJs have poor long-term memory. Keep track of things for them so they do not have to. They hate reliving their day.
Four Sides of the Mind
ESTP Subconscious
ESTP Subconscious reveals an INFJ's path to responsibility and maturity. The biggest source of maturity comes from our parent function. INFJs can attend social gatherings to strengthen their grasp of ethics. Without Fe parent, an INFJ will only concern themselves with what they want and how they think. A healthy consideration of what other people feel keeps an INFJ helpful and pushing toward appropriate growth.
ENFP Unconscious
ENFP Unconscious reveals the INFJ's path to happiness. When they break through the fear of their inferior, it becomes aspirational, and they become strong and capable where they were previously weak and afraid. A developed ENFP Subconscious is confident that it knows how to apply enough pressure without breaking bonds.
ISTJ Super Ego
ISTJ Super Ego reveals the INFJ's path to love. ISTJ Super Ego, led by Si Demon, is not comfortable in its own skin. Over time, INFJs begin to understand how important health is. They realize that they are limited in their ability to strengthen others if they do not first get their own strength in check. ISTJ Super Ego, in its Angelic form, is about using sacrifice to show humanity what really matters.
The Te Master of the INFJ can cause humanity to rethink everything and uncover hidden truths. The Si Angel sacrifices itself to cement those truths and a legacy to remember.
Summary
INFJs can bring out the best in other people but typically not in themselves. The truth spreads like wildfire when an INFJ is around, but they decay without good people around. As much as they seek to be a great example to others, they need it of other people the most.
